My Business

Halvor Lines Inc. is a transportation company that hauls semi-truck loads of goods all across the U.S. and Canada. The main product that they transport is ceiling tile from USG located in Cloquet MN. They haul this product everywhere. It is amazing how many places need ceiling tile. A trucking company with a large enough fleet needs to use social media to promote its services and also update the community and its drivers with news about the company. Social media is important to Halvor Lines because they need to spread word around to other states about their rates and also to let big business know they are there.
Halvor Lines mission statement is important to understand what type of business they are. “Halvor Lines, Inc. provides our business partners with premier transportation and logistics services across United States and Canada. We strive to build mutually beneficial and long term partnerships with our customers and our employees. We continually invest in safety, technology, and modern equipment to achieve our goals. We operate our business with professionalism and integrity and provide a positive image for ourselves, our customers, and the trucking industry.”  --Jon Vinje President
Halvor Lines strives to be the best and works hard to cut down on emissions and be green. This is why I would be proud to work as a social media consultant for this company.

Lake of the Ozarks

I’m going to start this blog post off by saying that a 2004 ford focus has absolutely no lumbar support in it’s driver seat. My family, a few friends and I took a vacation to the “Lake of the Ozarks” MO last summer. We took two vehicles for the long drive down there, and of course I was one of the two elected to drive one of these cars. I drove my focus the whole way there, and let me tell you; my back hurt so badly by the time we got half way I thought I was going to die, I thought “this is the end”. After a few more hours left sitting in excruciating pain trying to shove my sweatshirt behind my back or sit on a pillow like a little old lady we finally arrived. Just seeing the weather I knew that it was worth the pain.
We all spent the week in my mom’s condo. This was a kind of vacation I wasn’t used too. When I think vacation, I think roller-coasters, shopping, and non-stop water rides. I was not used to just hanging out and actually “relaxing” , so the whole time I was trying to figure out some way to keep myself occupied.
The first thing I tried was playing tennis. After about an hour of that, two bleeding knees and a headache I decided it was time for something new. Jet skiing was the next activity. It was my first time on a wave runner and I had a blast. My family and I took turns trying to show off and make fools out of ourselves as we got thrown from the big toys.
After we ran out of rental time for the jet skis we all went shopping at this HUGE outdoor outlet mall. I didn’t buy much but it was definitely different then shopping in Duluth, MN. There was so many different varieties of items at these stores and it was interesting to see all of it.
All in all we still did spend a lot of time relaxing, getting sunburnt and hanging out in the hot tub. I really had a great time this vacation and I can’t wait to go again next year, hopefully in a car with a nice chair!

what annoys me most

The most annoying thing that I can think of right now is how most of the police officers in the Duluth area abuse their power and take the law into their own hands. Sense I got my license I have been pulled over more times than I can count, well I lost track around 20 or so times. I know that this is WAY more times than the average person does in their whole life, and I’m not going to lie; I am asking for it some of the times but for the most part I feel that I am just getting pulled over because I fit the profile. To me it’s bad enough that I speed and drive like a dumb kid and get tickets for this but the part that really grinds my gears is when I get picked up for going 2-4mph over the limit and the officer comes up to my window and asks if I know why I got pulled over. I of coarse say “no officer I do not” (thinking that it’s definitely not because I was SPEEDING) then the officer will say that “I must be on drugs” or “I smell alcohol” and tells me that the reason that I don’t know why I got pulled over is because I must be drunk and high. I mean really? Do you think that is necessary? What happened to the days where the cop just gives you the ticket and leaves? From my experiences 4 out of 5 times I encounter a police officer in my home city they need to make some sort of statement to show that they are in control and there is nothing I can do.
The part that makes me laugh is how a police officer can, speed, talk on the phone, run stop signs/lights, or even surf YouTube while driving down the road. And NOBODY will do anything at all about it. Everyone sees it but nobody reports them. Heaven forbid I switch the radio station. I personally have seen a cop almost get in two accidents and also come inches from running over a kid all while looking at his laptop. I don’t think he even knows it, all he cares about is if the guy who’s bumper he’s ridding paid for tabs this year or not. I’m getting a ticket for everything I do nowadays and I just don’t think it’s fair to be picked on by the ones sworn to protect us.
I don’t like how the police make everyone out to be a criminal. I would love to say it’s just me… there is very few people who I can ask that have been happy to get pulled over by a police officer to keep them safe. Why can’t the police protect us more than they threaten our youth? I apologize to all you who are close to a police officer. These are just my experiences with the majority of the cops I have dealt with, and I feel something needs to be done before this type of behavior gets worse. I have meet good cops too.
